Buyer's Guide: Gentleman's Knives

Selecting a Gentleman's Knives

Whether it's for hunting, camping, self defense, gardening or survivalist needs, a quality set of Gentleman's Knives will give you the edge you need to get what you need. There are many types of Knives available for purchase today. They come in various sizes and shapes as well as materials used to build them. Below are some of the more common selections for a gentleman's every day carry:

The folders, scissor, and serrated edges all come in a variety of sizes to fit the bill for just about any man who needs one. These popular knife styles have blades that are either solid stainless steel or carbon based, and are among the most durable of knives on the market today. Some models are made with extra protection built into the handle. This extra layer of strength is designed to prevent against choking or other forms of injury sustained from improper handling. This is not the type of knife to use if you plan to perform delicate work with it, however.

The blade is made of one of several different metals including: stainless steel, titanium, and nickel. Each metal has its own distinct advantages when it comes to sharpening and using knives of the type. Titanium is extremely strong and lightweight, but it lacks the hardness of stainless steel and cannot be used to cut through denser items.

Most people choose to go with a folder as the dominant style of Knives available, even though there are many folding varieties available. These knives have smooth flowing blades that can easily be carried around without causing any additional bulk. They can also be worn comfortably on belt loops or worn along with a pair of leather boots to create a comfortable but rugged combination.

The clip point is another type of knife that has developed its own following in the fashion world. The clip point is designed to be used quickly and to deliver a quick blow. Because of this feature, the clip points are particularly well suited to work related tasks since the blade does not need to bend in order to cut. These knives also offer the advantage of providing safety due to the safety blade style that protects the top of the blade when it is open. The safety guard is also an excellent addition if you are concerned about your company's safety standards.

The clip point is not limited to basic uses though. Some designs have been designed for use as a carving tool or even as a fishing implement. It is possible to find some designs that have a razor sharp point that can be used to cut through tree branches or other hard objects.

One of the oldest designs for a knife is the fixed blade. It was probably first popularized by the Chinese during the mid-nineteenth century and remains popular today among some enthusiasts. The use of knives in war is a bit of a different story though. There, a blade style known as the saber blade has been developed and used to close with an opponent to protect against his or her weapon.

If you are interested in some dramatic effects, you might prefer to look at some designs that utilize a double edge or a serrated edge. These designs are used to create very precise cuts into your target. While they are very useful for most applications they should not be used to cut through glass.

Many people are also interested in using a folder as a knife. Folders have a strong grip but lack the ability to do a great deal of damage. Folders are available with a number of folding blades available. Most of these blades have a strong tip but some of them are tipped with small diamond points to provide more power when cutting.

Another type of knife is a folder which is slightly smaller than other types. These are often used in the kitchen to parry cutting objects. A parry block can also be added to the end of a folder to help protect the user. Originally a chef's knife was used to perform all of these functions but eventually this design was taken over by military units and law enforcement agencies. You can often find these types of knives under the names Swiss army knives and police knives.

In addition to the blade style you will want to consider the material used to create the handle. While wooden handles are popular they are not very practical because they can break and wear easily. Leather is the most common material used for a handle. This material can be dyed in any color desired and it is very durable and strong. It is also very easy to maintain and can last for many years if properly cared for.
