Buyer's Guide: Fighting Knives

Fighting Knives - What is it and Who Uses Them?

If you haven't already read an article about the best survival knives, then you have quite a few decisions to make. What are you looking for? What features do you need? What weight should it be? Here's a look at a couple of the most common knives in use today and their differences from a tactical folder.

First of all, the difference between fighting knives and other pocket knives is that they're not field-tested. Yes, that cool ultra-rare-shaped knife you saw online that's labeled a combat knife isn't actually field-tested to see how fast it opens, maybe even in the designer's dream kitchen it isn't! A good tactical knife should be either black or with some other color that reduces glare. A hunting knife, for example, is often made of carbon fiber or some other high-tech material that will reduce the effects of rusting on its blades. A fixed blade is generally the best choice for an EDC knife.

There are many different designs of fighting knives. A popular choice is a folding knife (also called a sheath knife or pouch knife). These can come in a number of different sizes, including those that fit inside pockets. They also can be very small, barely noticeable, so you won't get them snagged on something or lose one while you're fending off an attacker. Folding knives work great for close-quarter combats, such as self-defense situations. They are also good for everyday use, including camping trips, hiking, and work-related affairs.

The other major type of knife is the fully-assembled, stand-alone knife. These may have a traditional Wusthof style blade or other top-of-the-line blade design. The main drawback to these types of knives is that the blade assembly may need to be removed while the knife is being used, and the spring blade needs to be folded manually.

Combat knives are designed for special duty situations. Some of the more common brands are Bushmaster, Remington, and Remington Rand. Combat knives are also known as cutlery knives, due to their unique design which makes opening and closing much easier. This makes tactical knives a popular choice for the military, law enforcement, and even civilians. The general fighting strategy for combat knives is to have multiple blades that can be simultaneously performed with one another. They are also often carried on duty assignments to minimize the chances of lost keys or other similar issues.

The blades of these knives are designed to be extra strong to handle impact or blunt force. Some of the most popular military uses include: gunfights, knife fights, vehicle, and work-related sharpshooters, and even for special operations. Today, they still see use in special operations, but many people prefer them for their easy maintenance and added strength.

The general public has become increasingly interested in these types of products as well. It is an excellent choice for people who enjoy the outdoors and don't want to put their life on the line every time they decide to go hunting. Many people are purchasing these types of knives to supplement their wardrobe of combat items. Some of the top brands include Buck Knives, Remington, and Smith & Wesson. You can find these types of products at most sporting goods retailers or through online retailers who specialize in these types of items.
