How To Choose The Best Spyderco Manix 2

Spyderco has been making knives since the early 1980s, and their products have become synonymous with quality. Their Manix series of folders are among the best made, and they are also known for being affordable. This article will help you decide whether Spyderco's Manix 2 is the right folder for you.

What Is A Spyderco Manix 2?

The Spyderco Manix 2 is an everyday carry folder made for people who want a small pocketknife but don't want to sacrifice strength and durability. The Manix 2 has all the features of the original Manix including its patented "Manix" clip point blade system, ergonomic handle scales, and ambidextrous thumb studs. It also includes a lanyard hole and a reversible tip up/tip down pocket clip. This model comes in two sizes - 3 1/2" closed and 4" open. Both versions come with a black G10 handle scale and a stainless steel liner lock mechanism.

Who needs a spyderco manix 2?

The Spyderco Manix 2 is one of my favorite knives. I love its compact size and how it feels in my hand. But, I'm not sure if this model is right for me anymore. Why? Because the blade has been changed. Instead of being made of CPM S35VN steel, the new version uses VG10 stainless steel.

I know that most people prefer blades made of CPM S35VN steel over VG10. However, I think that the change makes the Spyderco Manix 2 a bit heavier than before. Also, the handle scales seem thinner now. These changes could affect the balance of the knife. So, I decided to do some tests to see which one was better.

I tested the two versions side by side. Then, I compared each against other using three different types of tasks. First, I tried cutting paper. Next, I cut through plastic foam. Finally, I sliced tomatoes. Afterward, I took photos of each test. Here are the results.

As you can see, the Spyderco Manix 2 performed very similarly to the original version. Both were able to easily slice through paper and plastic foam. However, the Spyderco Manix 2 did slightly better on tomato slices. It seemed to hold the knife better during the slicing process.

In summary, I found that the Spyderco Manix 2 performs almost identically to the original version. However, the new design seems to be a bit lighter. Therefore, I would recommend the Spyderco Manix 2 to anyone interested in a smaller folder. But, I wouldn't suggest buying the new version unless you really need a light weight knife.

The Importance Of Purchasing A Quality Spyderco Manix 2

Spyderco knives have become increasingly popular among outdoorsmen because they offer excellent performance and durability. Spyderco has been making great products for years now, so if you want to purchase a quality knife, then you should definitely take a look at their line of knives. One of the most popular models in the lineup is the Manix 2. This model offers many features that other similar knives do not provide. Let's take a closer look at some of the reasons why you should buy this particular knife.

Aesthetics - When it comes to aesthetics, the Manix 2 is one of the best knives available. Its sleek design makes it easy to carry around and use. You won't find another knife that looks like this one. The blade is forged from CPM S35VN steel, which provides exceptional edge retention and corrosion resistance. The handle scales are constructed from G10, which is extremely durable and resistant to wear and tear. The ergonomic pocket clip allows you to easily access the knife even when wearing gloves. Overall, the Manix 2 is a beautiful knife that is built to last.

Performance - Another reason why you should buy the Manix 2 is because of how well it performs. The knife is capable of cutting through just about anything. The serrations on the blade allow you to slice through thick materials such as rope and leather. The knife is also very sharp, allowing you to quickly chop down trees and bushes. The blade is also incredibly thin, which means that you'll never have any trouble getting the job done. The knife is perfect for outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, camping, and hiking.

Durability - Finally, the Manix 2 is extremely durable. The knife is designed to withstand heavy duty usage. The knife is able to hold up under extreme conditions, including being dropped multiple times. The knife is waterproof, meaning that you can use it in wet environments. The knife also includes a lifetime warranty, so you can rest assured knowing that you will receive a replacement if something happens to the knife.

Features To Consider When Buying A Spyderco Manix 2

Blade shape. The blade shape of a folding knife is important. Blades should be thin enough to fold easily, yet strong enough to hold its edge well. Spydercos use a modified drop point blade style, which has a slight curve along the spine of the blade. This allows the blade to stay sharp longer than other styles.

Handle material. Handle materials affect how comfortable a knife feels in your hand. Some handle materials are more durable than others, while others are softer and easier to grip. Look for knives made from stainless steel, titanium, carbon steel, aluminum, wood, or polymer composite.

Lock mechanism. Most modern folding knives feature a liner lock system. Liner locks prevent the blade from opening unless the user pushes down on the button located near the tip of the blade. Liner locks are typically found on fixed blades, but they can be used on folders as well.

Pocket clip. Pocket clips allow you to carry a knife discreetly. They can attach to pants pockets, belt loops, or even keychains.

Blade length. Blade lengths range anywhere from 3 inches to over 10 inches. Longer blades give you more cutting power, while shorter blades are more maneuverable.

Weight. Knives weigh between 1 ounce and 6 ounces. Lighter knives are easier to carry around, while heavier ones are stronger and more durable.

Overall quality. Quality refers to the overall condition of the knife. Look for a knife that doesn't show signs of wear, such as scratches or nicks. Make sure the knife feels solid and sturdy in your hands.

Size. Knife sizes range from pocketknives to full-size hunting knives. Small knives are great for everyday tasks, while larger knives are ideal for bigger jobs.

Different Types Of Spyderco Manix 2

Spyderco Manix 2 knives are a great alternative to traditional fixed blade folders. They offer a lot of versatility and performance without the bulkiness of full size blades. Spyderco’s Manix line offers two models; the standard model and the Manix Signature. Both models feature a drop point style blade and a clip assisted opening mechanism. The Manix Signature features a titanium handle and a black G10 scales. The standard model features a stainless steel handle and a black G10 scales.

The main difference between the two models is the handle material. The standard model uses a stainless steel handle while the Manix Signature uses a titanium handle. The titanium handles are lighter and stronger than the stainless steel ones. Titanium is also corrosion resistant making it a good choice for outdoor use. Stainless steel handles are better suited for indoor use since they don’t rust easily. The titanium handles are also less likely to break off due to impact damage.

Both models feature 3.5 inch blades. The standard model has a slightly longer blade length of 4 inches. The Manix Signature has a shorter blade length of 3.25 inches. Blades are measured from tip to base. A longer blade gives you more cutting surface area. A shorter blade allows you to cut through materials quicker. For example, a 3.5 inch blade is suitable for light duty tasks like chopping vegetables. A 4 inch blade is better suited for heavier duty tasks like carving meat.

The standard model has a thinner profile than the Manix Signature. The standard model measures 0.75 inches while the Manix Signature measures 1.0 inches. The thickness of the handle affects how comfortable the knife feels in your hand. Thicker handles feel more secure and stable. Thin handles are easier to maneuver and hold. Handle thickness should match the intended task. For example, a thin profile knife is better suited for fine cuts like slicing tomatoes. A thicker profile knife is better suited for heavy duty tasks like splitting wood.
