How To Choose The Best Microtech Karambit

A karambit knife is a traditional Japanese weapon used by bushido warriors. The name comes from the word 'karambitsu', meaning 'to cut with a curved blade'. They are also great for cutting rope, leather, wood, etc. , and are often used by martial artists.

What Is A Microtech Karambit?

The Microtech Karambit is an extremely popular knife among martial artists because of its unique design. The blade has been made from high carbon steel for durability and sharpness. It features a curved spine that allows for easy cutting while still providing maximum control over the weapon. This style of knife is ideal for self defense because of its small size and light weight. The handle is ergonomically shaped to fit comfortably in your hand and provides excellent grip even after extended periods of time.

Where Can I Buy A Microtech Karambit?

You will find many different styles available including folding knives, fixed blades, and sheaths. If you want to learn more about this type of knife, check out our review of the Microtech Karambit here!

Who Needs A Microtech Karambit?

The Microtech Karambit is one of the most versatile knives ever made. It has been around since the early 1970s and continues to evolve today. Today, the Microtech Karambit is still considered one of the best fixed blade knives on the market.

It's a knife designed to do everything. From cutting through thick meat to slicing bread, this knife does it all. But it doesn't stop there. The Microtech Karambit can also be used as a utility knife, a fillet knife, a boning knife, and even a paring knife.

This versatility makes the Microtech Karambit perfect for any type of cooking. Whether you're preparing food for dinner or working on a project, the Microtech Karambit is sure to fit right in.

But how did this knife become such a favorite among chefs and home cooks? Let's take a look at the history behind the Microtech Karambit.

In 1972, George Mueck was working as a chef at the now famous restaurant Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California. He wanted to create a new kind of knife that would allow him to prepare dishes faster and more efficiently. After experimenting with various designs, he settled on a unique design that incorporated a curved spine and a hollow handle.

He named his creation the "Microtech" after the microprocessor chip. At the time, the name seemed appropriate given its ability to perform multiple functions. However, the name stuck.

Mueck began selling the Microtech Karambit under the brand name "Karambit." Soon, other companies followed suit and started producing similar knives. These included the Spyderco KK2, the Kershaw Knives MK1, and the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife.

Today, the Microtech Karambit remains one of the most popular knives on the market. Its popularity stems from its versatility and ease of use. With the Microtech Karambit, you can cut anything from raw meats to bread.

Whether you're using it to chop veggies, slice cheese, or fillet fish, the Microtech Karambit is ready to tackle whatever comes next.

However, the Microtech Karambit isn't just limited to kitchen tasks. Many people use it for camping trips, hunting, fishing, and even gardening. No matter where you plan to use it, the Microtech Karambit is sure to impress.

The Importance Of Purchasing A Quality Microtech Karambit

If you've ever used a knife, then you already know how sharp they can be. Knives have many uses, but one of their most common uses is cutting food. When buying knives, it's important to purchase a quality knife. A quality knife should be able to withstand heavy use, maintain its edge, and keep your hands safe. There are several different types of knives available, including folding knives, fixed blades, and switchblades. Each type of knife offers certain advantages and disadvantages. For example, folding knives are easy to carry and conceal, but they lack durability. Fixed blade knives offer greater durability, but they tend to be heavier and bulkier. Switchblade knives are lightweight and compact, making them ideal for travel. They also provide great versatility because they can be opened quickly and closed easily.

Microtech knives are designed specifically for hunting and self defense purposes. These knives feature a unique design that allows users to open and close the knife very quickly. This makes them perfect for situations where speed is essential. Microtech knives are built tough so they'll hold up even under heavy use. They're also ergonomically shaped so they won't slip out of your hand if you accidentally let go of them. Finally, Microtech knives come with lifetime warranty coverage.

When you're looking for a quality knife, try to find one that suits your needs. You may want something small and light for everyday tasks like chopping vegetables or slicing bread. Or maybe you prefer a larger knife for bigger jobs such as carving meat or opening packages. Whatever your preference, you'll find a Microtech knife that meets your needs.

Features To Consider When Buying A Microtech Karambit

Blade length. The longer the blade, the more control you have over your strikes. But if you're looking for a compact knife, you may prefer a shorter blade. That said, there's no right answer here. It depends on how you plan to use the knife.

Handle material. There are two main types of handle materials: wood and plastic. Wood handles tend to be heavier than their plastic counterparts, but they're often sturdier. Plastic handles are lighter weight, but they tend to flex easier and break down faster.

Lock type. Some knives feature traditional locking mechanisms while others utilize flipper locks. Flippers are typically found on folding knives, whereas locking mechanisms are usually found on fixed blades.

Finger groove. Knives with finger grooves allow you to grip the knife easily, even when wet. This makes them ideal for outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting.

Stainless steel construction. Stainless steel is strong, durable, and corrosion resistant. However, stainless steel doesn't hold its edge well, so it requires regular honing.

Overall balance. Balance refers to how evenly distributed the weight is across the entire knife. Balanced knives are easier to maneuver and maintain sharpness.

Weight. How heavy does a knife weigh? Heavy knives are harder to carry and less comfortable to wield. Lightweight knives are easier to carry and easier to manipulate. They're also great for camping trips and other outdoor adventures.

Length. Knife length varies depending on the style of knife. Short knives are perfect for everyday tasks, whereas long knives are useful for larger jobs.

Tip shape. Most knives feature straight tips, although many models now feature tapered tips. Tapered tips are generally preferred because they create a more precise cut.

Closed tip. Many knives feature closed tips, meaning the cutting edge is completely enclosed within the tang. Closed tips are safer than exposed tips because they prevent accidental cuts.

Different Types Of Microtech Karambit

The Microtech Karambit is a traditional martial art weapon that originated in India. It was developed by Indian swordsmiths in the early 1900’s. Today, it remains one of the most popular weapons among martial artists worldwide. Its popularity stems from its versatility and ease of use.

Karambits are traditionally made from steel and wood. Modern day karambits are now manufactured from carbon fiber composite materials. This makes them lighter and stronger than traditional wooden models. Microtech Karambits are also less likely to break under extreme conditions.

There are two main styles of karambits. One style uses a straight blade and the other uses a curved blade. Both styles are effective against multiple targets. A karambit is held in the hand with the thumb wrapped around the handle. The index finger wraps around the top of the grip and the middle finger wraps around the bottom of the grip. The ring finger wraps around the base of the grip and the pinkie wraps around the tip of the grip. The thumb should always remain wrapped around the grip regardless of what position the karambit is in.

A karambit is used by striking the opponent with the flat side of the blade. This causes the edge of the blade to cut through soft tissue. The cutting action is enhanced by the sharpness of the blade. When used correctly, a karambit can inflict deep cuts and puncture wounds. It is important to remember that a karambit is not meant to be thrown. Throwing a karambit is dangerous and could result in serious injury.

Microtech manufactures three different karambits. All three are made from carbon fiber composites. Each model features a slightly different design. The MT670 Hawk is the smallest model. It measures approximately 4 inches long and weighs about 5 ounces. The MT670 Hawk is primarily intended for self defense applications. The MT670 Hawk is lightweight and compact making it ideal for concealed carry. The MT670 Hawk is also equipped with a built in sheath allowing you to easily conceal the karambit without having to remove it from the sheath.

The MT670 Hawk is available in black or tan color schemes. Black is the standard color scheme.
