How To Choose The Best Gerber Fast Draw Tanto

A tanto knife is a type of fixed blade knife used by martial artists and other self defense enthusiasts. They have a long history dating back hundreds of years, but they haven't always been as popular as they are today.

What Is A Gerber Fast Draw Tanto?

The Gerber Fast Draw Tanto is an excellent tool for any outdoorsman who needs a small blade that will perform well in all conditions. The tanto has been around since the early 1900s, but only recently did the company start making knives specifically for this purpose. The Gerber Fast Draw Tanto features a drop point style blade made from VG-10 stainless steel. This type of steel is known for its durability and corrosion resistance. It is also very easy to sharpen, and the edge holds up well against abrasion. The handle scales are made from G-10 laminate wood, and the sheath is constructed from nylon webbing. The overall length of the knife is 5 inches, and the blade measures 3 1/2 inches long. The knife weighs just under 2 ounces, and comes packaged in a black plastic case.

Who needs a Gerber Fast Draw Tanto?

The Gerber Fast Draw Tanto is one of my favorite knives. I love its size, shape, and design. But, I'm not alone. Many other folks agree that this knife is awesome. In fact, it has been named "Best Knife" by Blade Magazine several times over the past decade.

But, despite being such a great knife, it isn't cheap. However, it does offer excellent value for money.

That said, if you do decide to invest in a quality knife, you shouldn't settle for anything but the best. After all, you only get one chance to cut yourself.

So, how do you know which knife is right for you? Here are three things to look for when choosing a new knife:

Most knives fall into two categories: pocket knives and fixed blades. Pocket knives are smaller than fixed blades. Fixed blades are larger than pocket knives.

Knives with ergonomic handles are designed to be held comfortably while cutting. Ergonomically shaped handles allow you to hold the knife easily.

Once you've decided which type of knife you'd prefer, you'll need to determine whether you want a folding or fixed blade. Folding knives are ideal for everyday use. They're compact and lightweight. On the downside, they require regular maintenance.

Fixed blades are generally heavier and bulkier. Although they're typically stronger than folding knives, they require more practice to master.

Regardless of which style you choose, you'll still need to decide whether you want a stainless steel or carbon steel blade. Stainless steel blades are tougher and last longer than carbon steel blades. Carbon steel blades are usually sharper.

After deciding which style of knife you'd like, you'll need to decide whether you want a traditional or tactical folder. Traditional folders are similar to conventional pocket knives. Tactical folders are designed specifically for combat situations.

The Importance Of Purchasing A Quality Gerber Fast Draw Tanto

Gerber knives have become one of the most popular choices among hunters and outdoorsmen. They offer excellent value, durability, and performance. There are many different types of Gerber knives available, including folding knives, fixed blades, tactical folders, and even multi-tools. Regardless of which type you prefer, they all share similar features. For example, all Gerber knives feature a drop point blade design, meaning the cutting edge extends down toward the handle. This allows the user to easily grasp the knife by placing their thumb along the spine of the blade.

Another common feature shared by all Gerber knives is the use of a liner lock mechanism. Liner locks provide a secure locking system that prevents accidental opening. Once locked, the liner lock disengages automatically when pressure is applied to the blade. Another advantage of liner locks is that they prevent the blade from being unintentionally opened if dropped.

In addition to the above mentioned features, Gerber knives are designed to perform under extreme conditions. Gerber knives are known for their toughness, making them ideal for hunting, camping, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Their ability to withstand harsh environments makes them perfect for any situation where you may encounter weather extremes such as rain, snow, heat, cold, etc.

Gerber knives are manufactured in America and come in various sizes and styles. You'll find Gerber knives ranging from pocketknives to large combat knives. Whatever style you prefer, you can rest assured knowing that Gerber knives are built to last.

Features To Consider When Buying A Gerber Fast Draw Tanto

Blade shape. The blade shape of a knife has a big impact on how well it performs.

Handle material. Knives made from carbon steel tend to hold their edges longer than knives made from stainless steel. Carbon steel blades are more affordable, but they may dull faster over time. Stainless steel blades are stronger and less prone to rusting, but they cost more.

Stainless steel handles are usually coated with a layer of nickel or chrome plating to prevent corrosion. These coatings add weight to the handle, which makes them harder to grip and control. However, these finishes are very durable and resist wear and tear.

Size. Knife sizes range from pocketknives to full-size hunting knives. Smaller knives are easier to carry and conceal, but larger ones are often preferred for cutting large pieces of meat or splitting logs.

Edge type. There are two types of edges used in kitchen knives - serrated and smooth. Serrated edges are useful for cutting breads, meats and cheeses. Smooth edges are sharper and work well for slicing softer foods such as tomatoes.

Weight. Weight affects balance and maneuverability. Lightweight knives are easier to wield and are especially handy if you're using them to cut delicate items like fruit or cheese.

Length. Longer knives are easier to reach into tight spaces and are perfect for tasks like filleting fish or skinning poultry. Short knives are easier to store and transport.

Tip angle. Tip angles range from 0 degrees to 60 degrees. Most tip angles fall between 30 and 45 degrees. At 0 degrees, the tip points down toward the ground. This allows the user to push the knife forward and stab downward, which is helpful for stabbing targets below the surface of the target. As the tip angle increases, the tip becomes flatter and the knife becomes more difficult to thrust.

Different Types Of Gerber Fast Draw Tanto

The Gerber Fast Draw Tanto is a folding pocketknife that was created by Gerber Knives. It features a drop point blade design and a tanto style handle. It is a good starter knife for beginners due to its size and ease of use. It is also a great tool for those who are looking for a small knife that packs a punch.

There are three main variations of the Gerber Fast Draw Tanto. Each variation has slightly different specs. We will go through each version below.

This model is the original version of the Gerber Fast Draw Tanto. It is manufactured in black titanium steel and measures 3 inches long overall. It weighs 1.2 ounces. It includes a lanyard hole and a thumb stud. It does not include any accessories.

It is a great beginner's knife. Its small size makes it easy to conceal and carry. It is also lightweight enough to hold comfortably in your hand without feeling heavy.

However, it lacks a lot of functionality. For example, it doesn't feature a locking mechanism. It also has a short blade length. This means that it isn't really suited for chopping tasks. It is better suited for slicing and dicing food.

If you are looking for a smaller knife that is capable of performing multiple functions, consider getting the Gerber Fast Draw Tanto - Blue/Blue GFTT02B.

This model is identical to the previous version except that it is blue instead of black. It is manufactured in blue titanium steel and measures 2.5 inches long. It weighs 0.9 ounces. It does not include any extras.

Like the previous version, it is a great beginner's knife. It is light and comfortable to hold. It is also compact and easy to conceal. It is also suitable for slicing and dicing food. It is a little bit longer than the previous version though. This allows it to perform better cutting tasks.
