Buyer's Guide

History of the Chisa Katana

The Warrior Chisa Katana, created with high quality high heat tempered, high carbon steel, is a formidable weapon suitable for true samurai. Ideal for mastering intricate cutting techniques, this heavy katana is designed like the famous swords of old Japan and inspired by the legendary katanas of Genji. With durable high-carbon stainless steel blade and scabbard crafted from genuine Japanese black lacquered wood, the warrior chisa is stylish and strong. Silver-tone fiberglass handle and five-layers make the perfect grip, and black cord and high quality fittings make the scabbard. The perfect weapon for intimidating opponents.

The first introduction almost everyone will make to the world of Japanese swords is the katana. A small single-edged blade usually less than one inch long, it has been a mainstay of Japanese cutlery for thousands of years. In fact, the name katana itself means,'short sword'. These ragged swords were originally used for various ceremonial purposes, and are often reflected upon in Japanese art as a representation of life lived in simplicity, moving in the present and forging ahead. The shakira, or short sword, was typically shorter and much less deadly, but much more suited to a one-to-one fighting defense.

Chisa Katana was the ideal choice for the perfect beginning for anyone wanting to learn the intricacies of Japanese swordsmanship. The blade is actually the most important part of a real samurai sword. It was referred to as the 'daisho' or the right hand of the wielder, and was supposedly kept close to the person's heart to allow them to sense danger and stay balanced. This was also an effective method to allow the blade to be used as a blade that could be quickly pulled back in case of need.

It was also chosen because the blades were kept hidden in order to confuse enemies. The first introduction almost everyone will make to the Japanese sword, which was the naginata, or two-handed sword, was the weapon reserved for special occasions. Although believed to be more dangerous than the katana, it was far more deadly than the samurai sword, which was thought to be nothing more than a glorified staff. Ancient Japanese warriors believed that using the naginata allowed them to perform flawless precision strikes with lightning speed, which is exactly how the Chisa Katana came into existence.

Now, you might be wondering what the connection between this Japanese sword and the popular Sanyo blade was. Because the Chisa was meant to be used as a concealed weapon, it was made out of the finest steel swords available at the time. The blade washer that is connected to the hilt of the sword, known as the "Tanto", is made out of the finest quality steel in Japan and is often forged by skilled artisans known for their expertise in creating beautiful blades. Each individual blade was carefully designed by the samurai swordsmith in order to ensure that each was made in the most exacting way possible.

As mentioned before, each blade washer was forged from a single piece of steel and then carefully layered together. This not only created each blade, but it also provided the illusion of many blades within one unit. When Japanese samurai warriors fought each other in duels, they would alternate sides, allowing the audience to see the battle from every angle. Because the swords were so intricately designed, it was nearly impossible for an enemy to realize that the opponent was actually wearing multiple blades at once. This allowed the samurai warriors to quickly switch from their blades to their washers easily, allowing them to quickly change targets during the chaos of combat.

The blades were often made in a single color, but sometimes blacksmiths mixed different steels together to create a color that was exclusive to themselves. For example, one warrior may have had a black blade, a red grip, and a gold tanto. The effect was unique because each weapon was distinctive yet had the same look and appearance. As a result, no two individuals wearing these identical katana would have any idea who owned each sword.

Of course, one of the most famous swords in the world is the Japanese Katana. These traditional weapons have been passed down throughout the generations, never changing in form. The Katana itself is simply one of the most popular and traditional katanas in the world, and the perfect weapon for every type of fighting. Each samurai warriors also carried a small number of these katanas in an inner sheath, which contained the weapon whenever they went into battle. This is why the katana, even after so many years has not changed much in shape or form, making it a favorite amongst every type of fighting fan.
