Buyer's Guide

Boy Scout Knife Review

The Boy Scout knife is a common item used by many Boy Scouts, both in the military and civilian groups. I find that its use is often overlooked or not even thought about. In this article I hope to explain the reasons why the Boy Scouts use a knife, as well as some of the uses and history of the Boy Scout knife.

The first time I saw the Boy Scout knife it had a handle made out of metal and there was a hole in the side. It looked fairly heavy, but I guess a lot of those used during Boy Scout training, they are the heavier ones. The original Boy scout knife was made out of a blacksmith flat-blade. The later models I have seen were made from a steel type with a bladed side. The boy scout knives I have seen all have some type of blade or handle attached to it.

The reason that the knife has two blades or handles is because that the boy scout is not allowed to eat with their knife unless they have it down to the bone or using the best quality knife they can find. It is also part of tradition and is expected that they be able to at least clean the blade while at the same time eating. These knives are also called white pearl handles. A good tip for cleaning the knife is to put water on the blade and run it over a few times with your hands. You'll quickly get the blade dull, so if you haven't already done this, do it.

The tradition of using the boy scout knife continues today with many of the Boy Scouts doing it in addition to their regular camping chores. They still use the same type of knife but they may have a different size or type. The original white pearl handles are still used for those chores and the same goes for the scourers, shovels, whistle, and all other Boy Scout items associated with the organization. These items can all be purchased in the Boy Scout supply store at Camp James in Virginia.

A boy scout knife is also referred to as a pocket knife. The way it is called a pocket knife makes it easy to carry and does not take up much room in your pocket. The best models usually have a clip on the top so you can insert extra knives or it will fit in any pocket. Most of the newer models have clip mounted handles, which make them even easier to carry and the handle grips are typically reinforced so they don't fall out.

One of the most recognizable features of the boy scout knife is the two inch pocket clip. Usually, these models will also have a rubber or plastic grip. This is the perfect place to carry your knife because there won't be anything else in your way when you are cutting through the woods. The clip is there for ease of changing the knife in case you need to. There is no need to get your hands dirty changing the blades when you get thirsty.

The Boy Scout knife comes in a variety of styles including a traditional folding blade knife. There are also models that feature a two-way zipper drive handle and a tip-up or tip-down retractable blade. Some of the newer models will also incorporate a safety lock. As far as the tips go, some of the new models will give you three different ones so you can switch back and forth between the two. For a Boy Scout, this is very important because you really don't want to be caught without the right tool for the job!
